With New Year’s on the horizon, it’s time to start trying to figure out how to reach your 2023 goals. With that in mind, today we bring you four habits to be more efficient and start the new year on the right foot.
Sleep Better
Being more efficient and improving your quality of life doesn’t have to be complicated. Very often, the trick is to get the basic details right. Good sleep habits are the cornerstone of a productive life. In 2022, make it a point to sleep more and sleep better — even if it means laying down your phone and turning off your computer earlier than you are used to.
Work on Your Time-Management Skills
Time management is the essence of efficiency. If you are not familiar with any time management technique, this is the right time to start. Some options include:
- The pomodoro technique
- Time-boxing
- Stop multitasking
- The Eisenhower matrix (Divide tasks into four categories: urgent and important, not urgent and important, urgent and not important, and not urgent and not important)
Automate
Automating some tasks frees up time you can devote to more important things. You would be suprised to discover how many things you can automate using todays technology. For example:
- Bills
- Email responses
- Computer back-ups
- Proofreading documents
- Meal panning
Take More Breaks
It may seem counterintuitive, but taking more breaks can do wonders for your productivity. Being focused on a single task for a long period of time may lead to exhaustion and, eventually, burnout. Breaks provide a much-needed respite that allows your brain to wind down, recharge, and tackle the tasks at hand with a fresh perspective.
