If one of your New Year resolutions for 2022 is to bolster your organization (and your bottom line), one of the most efficient ways to do it is by improving your hiring process. Here’s how to do it.
Pay Attention to the Details
Improving your hiring doesn’t always mean enacting a costly overhaul. Sometimes, paying attention to key details can make a big difference.
Begin by taking a closer look at your job descriptions. Are they accurate? Do they appeal to a broad spectrum of candidates? For example, if you describe your ideal candidate as a “rock star,” you may be discouraging introverted candidates from applying. Other details you may want to fine-tune include:
- The channels you use to advertise your job openings
- The interview process: is it fast and accurate?
- Background checks: consider partnering with a screening company.
Consider Internal Mobility
If you are looking to fill a position, ask yourself first if one of your current employees may be a good fit. This makes sense for several reasons. First of all, a current employee already knows your values, goals, and processes. Second, as you may be aware, talent is in short supply these days (the so-called “great resignation”). Promoting internal mobility sends a positive message that keeps your employees interested and engaged.
Embrace Remote Work
The pandemic has changed the way we think about work. Working from home has become a viable option that employees are welcoming with open arms. Chances are good that remote work is here to stay, so you may as well embrace it and leverage it to grow your business.
While remote work poses challenges, it also creates interesting opportunities by expanding the talent pool you can draw on and allowing you to offer greater flexibility to your current employees
