A quick mental break can go a long way toward maintaining your emotional balance and ultimately succeeding at work. Here are three quick hacks you can use when you need to unplug for a couple of minutes.
Play Word Coach
Why not build your vocabulary while you take a short break? All you have to do is open Google on your smartphone and type “Google word coach” into the search bar. You’ll be shown a series of five questions that will make it easy and fun to learn new words. Playing a round takes only a couple of minutes and it’s guaranteed to help you get some much-needed mental respite from your daily tasks.
Play the Google Art Game
If you are more a more visual than verbal person, then we have a treat for you. The principle to access this game is the same as with Word Coach. Open Google on your smartphone and search “Google art Game.” A small panel will appear underneath the search bar and you will be served with a round of five questions (with pictures in most cases) about famous works of art.
Note that both Word Coach and Art Game appeared reliably only on the mobile versions of Google at the moment of writing this blog, so you may not get them if you try to access them from a desktop computer.
Read a Random Interesting Fact
Reading an entire Wikipedia article can be too time-consuming for a small break. But what about a random fact? The website Mental Floss has an Amazing Fact Generator. To check it out, just open the link and then keep clicking on the “More facts, please” button to read as many bite-sized interesting facts as you can fit into a quick break.
